Singapore Math Vs Traditional Math
FAQ

What are the areas of study that Singamath will help my child with?
Singamath Learning Center instructors cover a spectrum of subject matter, particularly Math, Science, English and Social Science in  grades K-12.  Education, for us, is not simply the subject matter but the ability to use particular skills in order to learn and grow beyond the classroom. These skills are embedded throughout our programs.

What will my child do at the Singamath Learning Center?
Every child will be given a Skills Assessment test in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Based upon the results of the test, we assign the child to a specific level to begin instruction. We have parents participate in setting goals for their child and Singamath develops an individualized progressive curriculum that is appropriate for the student.

The student will attend lessons that are guided by the instructor and topics will be reinforced as needed. Corresponding workbook assignments are then given for independent completion at home. The student will then advance at his/her own pace. Our program is structured to promote active thinking processes, communicate ideas, encourage problem-solving, and promote good study skills.

Who should enroll in Singamath Learning Center's programs?

Our programs are for students who have fallen behind, students who want to keep up, and for students who want to jump ahead. Students from pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12, irrespective of  learning skills, can enroll. We have different programs for students who want to catch up, keep up or reach beyond their current curriculum.

How is the Singamath Learning Center different from other 'Asian' centers?
Other popular 'Asian' centers were designed to supplement the education. The majority of these centers focus on speed and memorization rather than conceptual understanding and have little to no instruction involved--encouraging rote memorization.  At the Singamath Learning Center, we have a offer complete learning programs which are, very much, hands on and instruction intensive. We believe that understanding the concepts and thinking things through will develop true intelligence, and that speed will come as the student masters the subject matter.

Will  my child be learning things different from what they are being taught at school?
Singamath Learning Center's programs are aligned to meet the standards adopted by the California State Board of Education. In addition to meeting the California's standards, we provide students an extra edge in order to prepare them to compete against global talents in today’s advancing world.

How can I be part of my child's learning?

Singamath Learning Center believes parents are a child's best teacher and biggest motivator. Therefore, we have parents participate in setting their child's goals. During the goal setting meeting, a Singamath Learning Center representative will walk you through the Road Map to Success, essential steps and milestones that your child will go through during their program to succeed. The child will be assessed at each milestone and will be provided a review of their assessment in order to ensure the child's complete understanding of the subject matter. Parents will be updated about their child's progress through a report card as well as by an instructor. We also request that parents encourage their children to use the skills they learn at the Singamath Learning Center and apply them in their everyday learning.
